Welcome

Welcome to the POW Arts page!

Education in the arts is essential to a students’ intellectual and emotional growth. The arts provides a natural vehicle through which students can explore and express themselves. It also provides a lens through which they can discover and interpret the world around them. At Prince of Wales teachers use activities in dance, drama, music, and visual arts as a method to discuss larger topics and ideas. A picture, a song, or a movement can say more then words on a page.

We know that if we want our students to embrace these ideas we need to be leaders and provide opportunity for them to do so. As you walk through the halls of POW be sure to check out the pieces of art displayed proudly by our students and the murals that cover the walls. Pass by the music room and you’ll hear students learning to play everything from drums, trumpets, ukuleles and more. Dramatic play is a crucial development piece in our kindergarten wing and everyone around the school is dancing in one way or another whether in gym or just as a way to remember a key piece of information. The arts is celebrated in our clubs and teachers put on a music assembly every month. If your child has a passion for the arts we would like to fan the flames and watch their creativity grow!

If you want to know more about opportunities provided please check Edsby and our newsletter for details.

“The Arts has a role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else.” – Sydney Gurewitz Clemens
